Under the Equality Act 2010, we have a duty not to discriminate against individuals - including pupils, staff, parents, and families - based on age, disability, gender, gender reassignment, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, and sexual orientation. This protection extends to discrimination by association, ensuring that no member of our school community is treated less favourably because of their connection to someone with a protected characteristic.
We carefully consider and analyse the impact of all school policies on equality and the possible implications for pupils, staff and their wider families, as part of our commitment to meet the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) requirement to have due regard to the need to eliminate discrimination, advance equality of opportunity, and foster good relations.
