Year 2 History Trip, by Miss Jones

Year 2 had the pleasure of visiting Manchester Airport on a school trip!

We were so excited for our adventure, travelling by coach and taking our packed lunches with us. 

We had the opportunity to watch planes take off and land on the runway, visit Concord and go inside an actual plane!

Take a look at us as we sat in the cockpit, dressing up as pilots and cabin crew. We learnt all about the history of aeroplanes.

After lunch, we finished off our day with a trip to the onsite play area - what a fabulous day

Our Spring DT topic was Textiles. We used a 2D template to create a 3D butterfly. We looked at diffrent types of stitches and then thought about ways to join different decorations to our fabric.

We kicked off World Book Day this week with a visit from local author Stu Rowson - author of Izzy and the Tumble Thunder!

Our new Running Track and Early Years surface!, by Mrs Nunwick

We are really pleased with our As Good As Grass enhancements. Not only have we got our 200mm, wider running track replaced after many years but we've improved the surface of our new open Early Years outdoor area AND managed to have a nice area of artificial grass betwene the playground and track. This has quickly become a hot favourite for gymnastics.

We learnt a new song this week in Singing Assembly - especially for Chinese New Year. Watch us sing the first verse. We were inspired by our dance sessions yesterday!

To celebrate Chinese New Year, EYFS and KS1 participated in a Chinese Dance workshop. We were so impressed with the children's enthusaism and knowledge. We learnt so much about all of the different traditions.

Our task was to make a dragon mask, using a slider!

This linked nicely with our current English text,' Tell Me a Dragon'.

Another activity from STEM week!

Our Science topic has been 'Little Masterchefs', so we put our aprons on and got to work making pizzas.

We also tasted a variety of breads that we might use for our favourite sandwiches.

Year 6 have been exploring the Titanic as a focus for our science. Today we looked at bouyancy and what makes objects float and sink, then made our own boats and tested how much weight they could hold.

This week during STEM week, we have been lucky enough to have a lesson delivered by our fantastic school digital leaders!

We loved using iPads, Chromebooks and Beebots to learn new things.

Year 6 have been acting as engineers, designing and building towers to be as tall and strong as possible.

This week, it is STEM week!

Today, our focus was on engineering, using crafting materials to build aircrafts such as paper aeroplanes, helicopters and gliders.

We also built paper towers and had a competition to see who could build the tallest tower.

This half term, Y2 are looking at "Send, Receive", "Return" in PE.

We focused on the "send" element today, discussing what this means and choosing different ways to send a piece of equipment to the target.

The weather was perfect for our PE lesson :-)
