STEM Week, by Miss Horvath
Date: 7th Jul 2021 @ 12:43pm
Year 5 had two fantastic visitors today to kick start our STEM week on Monday. This morning we enjoyed a visit to a planetarium which took us on a visual journey through our solar system. The children consolidated their previous knowledge from our topic Earth & Space and even got to ask real scientists questions about what lies beyond our solar system.
In the afternoon, we took part in a workshop hosted by a science teacher from Wellacre Academy where we explored diffusion and discussed how diffusion works in cells. To demonstrate diffusion, the children poured warm water onto skittles to see the process happen. They were then shown some cells under a microscope to see how cells absorb into different parts of the body.
