Reception's Final Week, by Miss Khan

This week was our final week of the first half term, and what a half term it has been!
We've had a halloween-themed home corner, lots of writing practise and have been working on "one more" and "one less" in maths.
In handwriting, we have continued with the long letter family, working on "l", "i" and "t".

Here is a snapshot into another fantastic week at school for our Reception children.
We have been learning about the dotted technique and have created pumpkins inspired by the artist Yayoi Kusama.
We have been learning to recognise, subitise and build numbers to 3.
And in handwriting we have continued to learn about the curly letter family, learning the letters "e", "s" and "f".
Plus lots of other amazing learning and exploring opportunities! Take a look :-)

This week, we have had our EYFS & Y1 Open Week!
This was an opportunity for parents/carers to join their children for a Phonics lesson, followed by a stay & play session.
We have loved the activities this week and the children loved sharing their learning with the grown-ups.
In handwriting, we have been continuing to work on the curly letter family, learning "g", "o" and "q". Take a look!

We have begun letter formation in handwriting, practising "c", "a" and "d" from the curly letter family.
We have also started learning about patterns in our maths lessons, taking it in turns to discuss the patterns we can see.
And of course, exploring our wonderful provision with our friends.

We are almost one month into our first term of Reception!
Our time has been jam-packed with activities, making new friends and starting our new topics.

Reception B have been having a great time in Forest School with Mr Moore this term. Here are some photos to show what we have been up to.
RB Fire fighter visit, by Miss Bull

What a super morning we have had in Reception!
We were extremely lucky to have a visit from some of our local fire fighters and their fantastic fire engine. The children got to sit inside the fire engine, try on some of the uniform and even have a go at spraying the huge water hose! We then had a talk about what different things fire fighters do every day, saw how to put on the protective uniform and received a reminder on how to keep safe when near a fire.

Reception Beach Trip, by Miss Smith

Reception had a wonderful trip to Lytham St Anne's beach last week! This term we have been looking at how we can protect our oceans and it was great to see the children respecting their environment and looking after our planet. We played some games, did a Sports Day practice race, had a yummy ice cream and competed in a sandcastle competition (which was very impressive!).

RS - Forest School, by Miss Smith

Reception S had a great time taking part in Forest School with Mr Moore last term. We were able to learn lots of new skills and explore our natural world more freely, which was fantastic to see. We did some amazing activities including mud painting, den building, carving sticks and toasting marshmallows by the fireside!
