We have listened to the music of Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, Scott Joplin and Florence Price. Each faced prejudice and discrimination within their field and in their everyday life. They overcame those obstacles to produce inspirational music that was celebrated then and today, played by world famous orchestras and musicians all over the world. Their music combined the classical tradition and music inspired by spirituals and music & dance from African culture. You can see videos of some of their most famous pieces here.
