This week the tasks we would like you to complete are:
- Complete AT LEAST 1 page in your English and Maths CGP books

- Research our new Geography topic which is called all about volcanoes. We would like you to research 1 or more than 1 volcano and create a fact file. It would be interesting to look at volcanoes from around the world. You can present your fact file in any way you like; PowerPoint, document, poster. Then submit this on the google classeoom to the Volcano Research Assignment post. We will then mark your work and give you feedback. We would like this to be submitted by Friday 1st May.
- Like with every other week, if you do any other fun activities or work that you would like to show us then tell us on the google classroom on the Home Learning Week 3 assignment. You can post pictures, videos or work to show us.
**Remember to keep active by doing Joe Wicks or other fun games/sports in the garden.
**Also go onto bbc bitesize daily lessons if you would like to do extra work. There are lot's of interesting things on there each day. If we see something we would like you to have a try at we will post it to the google classroom. Otherewise just have a look and see what you would like to do.

Easter Holidays- Year 4, by Mr Tarry
Date: 27th Mar 2020 @ 4:07pm
We hope you have enjoyed the sun today and managed to do some fun activities.
Over the Easter holidays try and keep doing some of the outdoor activities from the picture below.
Remember if you create any fantastic creations outside take a picture and put them onto our google classroom. There is an assignment set up called home learning so post anything on there for us to see. If anyone hasn’t managed to get onto their google classroom yet-give it a try! Follow these steps:
- Go to www.google.com
- On the right hand side you will see the 9 dots that is a place to sign in.
- Your username is your chrome book log in with @mpjs-trafford.co.uk at the end. If you need help check the front of your homework book, we wrote this in there before we finished school. Your password is the same password as you use for the chrome books in school.
- Then to get onto the classroom click the same 9 dots and go to the classroom icon (yellow and green square)
We have set 2 my maths activities today, we will check these have been completed the first Friday after Easter (17th April).
Keep up with reading over the holidays, we are still aiming for 3 reads a week. This does not have to be your school book, use your reading record (as usual) to write down anything you read and to tell us about the book. We are excited to give out lots of raffle tickets when we get back to school so keep up with your reading!
Most importantly- spend time with your family and enjoy the outdoors. We are excited to speak to you all again after the Easter holidays and see what you have all been up to.
Happy Easter.

EASTER HOLIDAYS
Today we start our Easter holidays. There are 2 weeks when you don't have to do the sheets from your learning packs or anything on Google Classroom. Instead, myself and Miss Isbister would like you to have a go at some of your Pobble sheet activities that can be done as a family. We've also got a challenge against Year 4 on Times Tables Rockstars running until Tuesday 14th April.
Mrs Nunwick found this great list of activities to keep you and your family busy (while staying safe indoors).
Have fun everybody, we'll be back on the blog after the holidays!
Friday 27th March Year 3, by Mrs Edwards
Date: 27th Mar 2020 @ 8:49am
Good morning
How has your first week at home been? I hope you have all done well with Joe Wick every day.
Today's activity has a big number 5 in the corner.
Creative challenge
As most of us have been staying at home all day, it's nice to see some nature and wildlife. So I've found some zoos that are live streaming their animals! Have a browse of their websites and see what animals you can find. Maybe you could do some research on your favourite animals and write about them in your book.
https://www.dublinzoo.ie/animals/animal-webcams/
https://www.edinburghzoo.org.uk/webcams/panda-cam/
https://www.dudleyzoo.org.uk/our-animals/webcams/

Chester Zoo is also running a virtual trip to the zoo today. Below is the list of running times.

EASTER HALF TERM
After tomorrow, our Easter holidays start and there are 2 weeks when you don't have to do the sheets from your learning pack or anything on Google Classroom. Instead, myself and Miss Higson would like you to have a go at some of your Pobble sheet activities that can be done as a family.

Friday 27th March , by Miss Jones
Date: 27th Mar 2020 @ 8:45am
Good morning.. happy Friday!
I thought I would come on and post before Joe Wicks goes live at 9am.. even us grown ups have been getting in to a routine of doing Joe Wicks every morning.
I was so impressed with all of your beautiful creations from yesterday’s challenge.. I will post them on twitter later, if you didn’t get chance to yesterday have a go at the “natures art challenge” inspired by Andy Goldsworthy.
Following the success or yesterday’s challenge I have been thinking about one that I could set you for today. Today’s challenge is to design and make a boat that will float on water, you can choose any materials that you have at home. You could use paper, newspaper, twigs or sticks I don’t mind! Don’t forget to post a picture of your marvellous creation on google classroom for us all to see.
If you want to continue with daily creative challenges have a look at the ideas sheet that was in your pack to keep you busy over the holidays.
It was great to see some more of you on Google Classroom yesterday, I enjoyed chatting to you all and answering some of the riddles you have come up with. If you haven’t logged on yet try and have a go today, it’s your Chromebook username with
@mpjs-Trafford.co.uk
and your chrome book password. Have a look in the front of your homework book at the log in sheet we filled in last week if you can’t remember or get stuck.
We hope that you have all been getting on ok with your learning packs. I will be checking on MyMaths later today to give those of you that haven’t completed it a chance to do it and setting another one for you to compete today or over the holidays. I will also set a battle on TT rocks for over the holidays between 5J and 5H.. come on 5J (sorry 5H!!)
And finally, don’t forget to read and record it in your reading records, we still want to aim for 3 reads a week with a grown up at home.. I can’t wait to have a look through your reading records when we go back to school.. imagine how many raffle tickets you could build up over the next few weeks!! Remember it doesn’t have to be your school reading book, it can be any books, comics, magazines, newspapers, recipes, instructions or online articles that you might have around the house.
Miss Horvath and I hope that you have a relaxing Easter break with your family, fingers crossed this lovely sunshine stays with us so we can spend lots of time outside and we look forward to hearing all about it and speaking to you all again after the holidays.
Have fun and stay safe!!

Friday 27th March- Year 4, by Miss McEvoy
Date: 27th Mar 2020 @ 8:06am
Happy Friday Year 4 :)
We are both very proud of all the work you have been doing at home this week.
Finish the week off with a fantastic Joe Wicks work out. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAxW1XT0iEJo0TYlRfn6rYQ Then why not spend some time creating your own mini work out, we could try these out when we all get back to school.
Today’s learning pack activities:
Maths - The mystery of the missing horse challenge
English - Ancient Egyptian Dentists
Handwriting Practice - Year 3 & 4 National Curriculum words (1 page)
Don’t forget to record your work in your red exercise book.
This afternoon we would like you to think about this big question, this links to our last Science topic (states of matter)
Write your ideas in your red book and in the comments below. Ask somebody in your house as well and see what their ideas are.
Background science
Freezing is the term used to describe a liquid changing state into a solid when you cool it. It’s a reversible change, so if you apply heat to something frozen it will melt back into a liquid. Water usually freezes at 0°C, but its freezing point can drop below zero if it contains substances such as salt or alcohol. Seawater freezes at around -2°C, while antifreeze can stop the water in a car’s radiator from freezing even at -30°C!
Glacial ice (that is glaciers, ice caps, ice bergs and the sheets of ice that cover arctic regions) holds a vast amount of the world’s fresh water, while salt water is found in the seas and oceans.
Think about:
- How would polar bears and penguins live?
- How could you make a cool drink without ice?
- What would happen to all the snow in winter?
- What would happen to the sea levels?
We are looking forward to this discussion.

Good morning everyone! The sun is shining- happy Friday!
We have a few tasks for you today:

2. Go to https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zvhhvcw and research the key concepts of adaptation, evolution and inheritance (our new science topic!)
3. On Google slides, produce an information slide show about your findings. It’s up to you how you present it, but it should be both informative and interesting- don’t just copy and paste!
4. Chester Zoo are holding a virtual zoo today. If you can, visit their Facebook page to watch some of their animals live! You could add a slide about the adaptation of an animal you see in the virtual zoo. See the picture below for more details.
Don’t worry if you cannot get on Google classroom / slides. Instead, you could use PowerPoint or just present it in your blue exercise book.

Date: 26th Mar 2020 @ 8:59am
Good morning,
It looks like it's going to be another beautiful day! How many have you have been for a walk searching for rainbows in peoples windows? Why don't you go for a walk today and as your walking collect as many pieces of nature eg. Twigs, leaves and stones and when you return home create a piece of art work from all of these natural resources. Have a look at the artist Andy Goodsworthy for some inspiration! We would love to see your pieces of art, you can upload them to google classroom later today!!
Remember - when logging onto to google classroom it is your chrome book username but you MUST add @mpjs-Trafford.co.uk so it appears like an email address, then use your chrome book password and you will be all set to go!! I have been replying to some children on google classroom.. it would be great to see more of you on there later today :)
Don't forget to check your schedule to see which pieces of work need completing today.
Stay safe and have a lovely day in the sun!

Thursday 26th March Year 3, by Miss Higson
Date: 26th Mar 2020 @ 8:44am
Good morning everyone!
Miss Higson here. I hope that you are all OK and have been busy around your house. I'm just getting ready to start the Joe Wicks PE lesson but thought I'd write on here first.
Today's activities are the ones with a big number 4 in the corner of your pack. See if you can do all those and let me know how you get on.
Extra chellenges for today
I found this cool video on Youtube for drawing a 3D ladder. It doesn't look too tricky - see if you can try it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAq2X-0FbGM
Feeling creative? Why don't you take a look at the Wildlife Watch website - there are lots of fun activities to do in the garden/yard. While the sun is shining, why don't you try and attempt some of them?
Here is the website: https://www.wildlifewatch.org.uk/activity-sheets
If you manage to complete one of the activities, we have set up a Google Classroom document for you to add a picture to so we can see. Do not worry if you are not able to do this. Instead, you could write today's date in your book and draw and label a picture of your creation.
Speak to you soon!

Thursday 26th March Year 6, by Mr Boyer
Date: 25th Mar 2020 @ 8:38pm
Hi Year 6!
Well done to everybody who got onto the Kahoot quiz yesterday - I was there too and also a bit bemused (I'm clearly not a good guesser as I came 9th!). Miss Isbister has set up a new quiz that you can do anytime before 3pm today. Here are the details from her blog post:
'Go to kahoot.it again and enter the game pin 0374915
You should be able to see both the questions and answers, and like normal, you will have a 5 second time limit for each question. The only difference is we will not be playing 'live.' You just have from now until 3pm tomorrow to complete it, then I will submit the leaderboard on the blog!'
In addition to this, I have set up My Maths for you all to do - have a look! Whilst on a maths theme - did you see we lost to Year 4 by nearly 8000 correct answers on Times Tables Rockstars last weekend? I'm going to set up a rematch this weekend to last until 14th April! Meanwhile, it's pretty close between 6I and 6B (this battle finishes at 3.30pm on Friday).
Did you have a go at the ancient Greece research yesterday? If not, have a look at yesterday's blog post and give it a go if you haven't already, or if you started you can add to it. Don't forget day 4 maths and English from your pack too.
Good luck on the Kahoot quiz! (Fingers crossed it works this time - we are all learning!)
Mr Boyer and Miss Isbister
