Y2 - Geography Food Tasting, by Miss Khan

This half term, our Geography topic has been exploring the question "How does our food get to us?"

We have been learning about the journey that food goes on, and where different items of food originate.

Over the past two days, we have baked / prepared foods that originate in each of the 4 countries of the UK.

We tried apple sauce using English Bramley apples, Welsh Cakes, porridge using Scottish oats and Irish soda bread.

Afterwards, we enjoyed a group picnic to taste each of the foods :-)

Y2 - Yoga, by Miss Khan

Today, we had a calming yoga session in the hall as one of our activities for celebrating children's mental health week 2025!

We learnt some breathing techniques and spoke words of affirmation.

The children thoroughly enjoyed the different poses and we are going to practise these in our Jigsaw PSHE session this week too :-)

Chinese New Year dance workshop, by Mrs GIlmour

This week we have been celebrating Chinese New Year. We had an assembly with Mrs Nunwick where we learnt about the lunar calendar and then we had a dance workshop to learn some dragon dances. We loved working as a team to me the dragon and lion heads dance around the hall! Some of our friends in the class celebrate Chinese New Year with their families and brought in some lucky envelopes and fortune cookeis for us. Thank you to the families for sharing your celebrations with us!

Year 1 Geography, by Miss Warden

This half term Year 1 are learning all about the United Kingdom. We are exploring the 4 countires and their capital cities. We invited different teachers into our class to talk about the countries they are from and we even learnt some phrases in different languages and tasted scumptious food from these countires. Scotland - Miss Brown, Wales - Mr Carver, Northern Ireland - Mr Gallagher and Miss Warden and Mrs Gilmour - England

2K - Chinese Dance Workshop, by Miss Khan

Date: 28th Jan 2025 @ 4:00pm

Today, we had the pleasure of engaging in a Chinese Dance Workshop, ready for the start of Chinese New Year tomorrow!

We absolutely loved learning some cultural dance moves, hearing cultural music and even got to become the dragon and lion.

Thank you to all the organisers involved, we had the best time :-)

In Art, we have been looking at aboriginal art.

Today, we practised the dotted technique and the children experimented with this before creating their own aboriginal-style painting.

We have been exploring objects, materials and their propertites. We have been looking at the properties squash, twist and bend. We created balloon animals to help us understand the words rigid and flexible.
