Today, we had the pleasure of Zoolab in to show us their animals!

We absolutely loved handling the animals and learning all about parents/offspring to consolidate what we have been focusing on in Science this half term.

A massive thank you to Miss Warden for organising this for us - we loved it :-)

Year 6 Playground Leadership Training, by Mr Lewis

We are pleased to share that our Year 6 students have successfully completed their Playground Leadership Training! Equipped with new skills and a sense of responsibility, they are now ready to plan and deliver exciting activities for the younger children during lunchtimes.

Black History Month- Nelson Mandela, by Mrs GIlmour

This month is Black History Month so Year 1 have been learning about Nelson Mandela. We learnt that he was from South Africa. In the past, white people and black people had to lead seperate lives in South Africa. Mandela thought that everyone should be treated the same so he started peaceful protests to change this. He spent 27 years in prison. When he left prison he wasn't angry, he just wanted peace. He became the first black president in South Africa at 77 years old.

We have created artwork which will be displayed in the school hall as part of the Black History Month work that the whole school has taken part in. We also learnt the song 'Free Nelson Mandela' to celebrate his life and standing up for equality. We hope you enjoy our song!

2K - Trip to Pizza Express, by Miss Khan

On Wednesday, 2K were lucky enough to visit Pizza Express in Manchester on a school trip!

This linked nicely to our Science topic on 'Healthy Me' as we discussed the ingredients needed to make a healthy pizza.

It also links to next half term's 'Cooking & Nutrition' DT topic.

Year 6 - Lacrosse, by Mr Lewis

Year 6 have been having a fantastic time this half term learning the new sport of lacrosse from a specialist coach. We have been practising ball pick ups, throwing, catching and shooting with our lacrosse sticks and applying these skills to mini-games.

This week Year 6 got their bodies moving and hearts beating during our session of Freddie Fit - pushing their skills to the test while trying to beat their scores and push their limits.

2J's trip to Pizza Express, by Miss Jones

We had a wonderful time at Pizza Express! We walked sensibly to the tram and got off at Deansgate where we then had a short walk to Pizza Express. When we arrived we washed our hands, put our aprons on and listened carefully to the chef explaining about the history of pizza. We then rolled our dough and added our toppings. Whilst we were waiting for them to cook we enjoyed some colouring before sitting down together in the restaurant and eating our pizzas!

Year 1 Stick Man Innovation, by Mrs GIlmour

In Year 1 we have been reading Stick Man by Julia Donaldson, the children absolutely love the story! We then created our own stick character sch as 'Stick Cat' and 'Stick Spider' using sticks and a variety of crafting materials. The children then used their own innovative characters to write a character description using adjectives. Well done Year 1 on your first creative writing task this half term.
