Black Death History Session with CHS South, by Mr Lewis

Date: 12th Mar 2025 @ 9:32am

This week, we were delighted to welcome a special visit from CHS South, who delivered an engaging History taster session on the Black Death.

Our children had the opportunity to act like historians, investigating historical sources to uncover key facts about the devastating plague that swept across Europe. With the expert help of Year 9 pupils, they worked together to identify its symptoms and explored how people at the time attempted to explain and treat the disease. The highlight of the session was definitely when the children were able to create their own Black Death First Aid Kits!

A huge thank you to CHS South for delivering such an engaging experience!

World Book Day & Freddy Fit!, by Mr Lewis

Date: 7th Mar 2025 @ 4:04pm

A Fun-Filled Week in Year 6!

We have had a fantastic and busy week filled with exciting activities!

First, we got our bodies moving with Freddy Fit, exploring different ways to stay active and keep ourselves fit and healthy. The children had so much fun taking part in energetic exercises and learning about the importance of staying active and eating the right foods.

Later in the week, we celebrated our love for reading on World Book Day\! The children looked amazing in their costumes and proudly showed them off during our assembly parade. We also took part in an exciting online quiz and enjoyed a range of fun, book-themed activities throughout the day.

A big well done to all the children for their enthusiasm and effort this week!

Year 1 Science- Everyday materials, by Mrs GIlmour

Date: 6th Mar 2025 @ 11:22am

During the spring term our science topic is everyday materials. We have explored which materials are waterproof or not. Year 1 had a challenge to find a material that would be suitable to make an umbrella for the teddies on a rainy day. The children enjoyed investigating this experiment with their friends! We learnt that waterproof means a material that does not let water through it.

Year 1- Children's Mental Health Awareness Week, by Mrs GIlmour

Date: 6th Mar 2025 @ 11:16am

In February it was Children's Mental Health Awareness Week. We had a yoga teacher come and teach us different yoga poses. We learnt about the different emotions from the film Inside Out and created our own emotions characters linked to the colours. We discussed what makes us feel joy, sadness, anxiety, disgust and anger and how it is okay to feel these emotions and what we can do when we need to regulate back into the green zone.

We also dressed up in clothes of what we would like to be when we grow up to raise money for the school peace garden. We wrote down some ideas of what we need to do to achieve our dreams and goals too.

2K - Dreams and Goals dress-up day, by Miss Khan

Date: 7th Feb 2025 @ 3:58pm

This week has been Children's Mental Health Week.

We have done lots of mindfulness activities in school to get us thinking about our mental health and how to look after ourselves.

Today, we had the opportunity to dress up as something we would like to be when we are older, or something that represents our hobby.

Just look at how amazing we looked today! :-)
